Creepsville 13 CD

Hey fright fans! Here's a kick-ass CD you ghouls will love. It is a tribute album to the band Forbidden Dimension, who headlined the Horror Hootenanny in 2012. Put together by Strange Jason, the brains behind the Six Foot Plus podcast, Creepsville 13 is a collection of songs from 19 bands, each doing a cover of a Forbidden Dimension track. Press release is below for more info, as well as links where to buy it.

By the way, all profits go to the Calgary Humane Society. How cool is that?!!

TRIBUTE ALBUM IN HONOR OF BAND’S 25TH ANNIVERSARY RELEASED

(The Invisible Dimension – October 2013) Despite the efforts of all sane members of the scientific and artistic community, CREEPSVILLE ’13: A TRIBUTE TO FORBIDDEN DIMENSION was released among the unsuspecting masses at www.creepsville13.com. Nineteen bands came together to pay tribute to FORBIDDEN DIMENSION, in honor of the Calgary horror-rock band’s 25th Anniversary.

Started in 1988 by Jackson Phibes, Forbidden Dimension has championed both the horror-monster mentality as well as the independent spirit that has propelled the band, still active, through a quarter-of-a-century. Over the course of five CDs, numerous singles, and side projects, Forbidden Dimension have garnered a world-wide cult following for his scary blend of garage rock, punk, and metal with science fictional, ghoulish story telling. Twenty-five years after the initial Into The Forbidden Dimension release, CREEPSVILLE ’13 aims to honor and celebrate the band’s life and accomplishments.

Taking its name from Creepsville ’99, Forbidden Dimension’s sophomore release, CREEPSVILLE ’13 brings together bands from around the world, all who were influenced by Forbidden Dimension’s music. On this compilation, you’ll find: fellow Calgary rockers like CRIPPLE CREEK FAIRIES, EXPLODING PIGS and THE BROWNS; gothic rock juggernauts THE NEW JACOBIN CLUB; blood-and-bluegrass maestro BOB KEELAGHAN from the AGNOSTIC MOUNTAIN GOSPEL CHOIR; the king of horror radio, TOMB DRAGOMIR; surf daddys SKURKARNA and THE DEAD BEAT; Nashville monsters THE CREEPING CRUDS WITH DEAD DICK HAMMER; Northeastern garage creatures THE QUASI-MEN and THE EVIL STREAKS; JIMMY PSYCHO of industrial-horror-punk vanguards PSYCHO CHARGER; grindcore noise felons BREATHE KNIVES; lo-fi hero GHOSTS RUN WILD; Saskatoon scum-rockers SAVAGE HENRY AND THE INFAMOUS ONE POUNDERS and THE GREAT SHAKIN’ FEVERS; and the next generation of independent creeps, SOLID SILVER and MUMMULA.

Proving that monsters have a heart, all profits from the initial sale of CREEPSVILLE ’13 benefit to the Calgary Humane Society (http://www.calgaryhumane.ca/)

CREEPSVILLE ’13: A TRIBUTE TO FORBIDDEN DIMENSION can be ordered today at www.creepsville13.com. Purchase of CD (shipping 10/21) includes immediate download of CREEPSVILLE ’13.

Impaler - Cryptozoology

Shock rock legends Impaler have a brand new cd out now called Cryptozoology. It was officially released Dec 1st 09 - it features 10 tracks all dedicated to various creatures of the night. Chucabra, Bigfoot, Jersey Devil, Mothman - great stuff!

I first "met" Impaler back in the early 2000s. I say "met" in quotation marks because I got to know lead singer Bill Lindsey through the internet. We swapped emails and cds, dvds, and music over the years. I finally got the pleasure of meeting Bill and the rest of the ghouls last year when my band, Spookhand, opened for Impaler at Nashville's Springwater club. Let me tell you, a nicer bunch of guys you couldn't ask for. They were a fun bunch and really had the place rocking! It was a great time.

Little history about Impaler - they have been at this since the early 80s. They were one of the bands that got Tipper Gore all riled up, back when she had the whole PMRC thing happening. They were one of the bands whose album covers, (and yes, they were albums back then), were shown in congress during those whole ridiculous congressional hearings about how evil rock music was warping our children. What a badge of honor! You can also see one of their covers in the movie "Trick or Treat," in the stack of movies Eddie has at his house.

Yep, they've been doing this for quite a while, bringing the shock rock show to the masses - and I'm happy to say they'll be back in Tennessee again next month, on March 27th, and my band will be opening for them again, along with The Creeping Cruds. Bring on the horror!!

So go by www.impalershockrock.com and grab a copy of cryptozoology - or else I'll send the Chupacabrs after you!!

More Spookhand pics!

A few more shots of me in my Manster costume have surfaced. These were taken at the Spookhand show (Punk Rock Party) at The Muse - a HUGE thanks goes out to Angelica Dahl for these. I didn't think anyone took pics that night but lo and behold, there they are.

And there she is, the heroine of the day, Angelica with boyfriend McNasty from the Creeping Cruds!

Horror Hootenanny 6

Last Saturday night was the 6th annual Dr. Gangrene's Horror Hootenanny and it was a bloody success! The Nashville Zombie Walk showed up in a gruesome contigency as the dead converged upon the Muse starting at 7pm. My band, Spookhand, kicked off the evening, followed by The Creeping Cruds, The Mighty Shrill, Radio Death Wave and Fist of the North Star! Awesome night and more fun than you can shake a bloody limb at, which I did, by the way!

Come Out Neville

Posted a music video this weekend for The Creeping Cruds song "Come Out Neville". This song is based on the Richard Matheson novel "I am Legend" and the film THE OMEGA MAN, and will be shown next Saturday night during our broadcast of THE LAST MAN ON EARTH. This was filmed live at the Horror Hootenanny 4 last October. Rock on!
