Tower of London Pressbook

I was fortunate to have Sara Waugh share part of her magnificent Vincent Price collection with me recently, and she graciously agreed to let me share it here as well. Sara, btw, is cousin to Robert Taylor, who shared a series of Vincent memorabilia here a couple years back for the Vincentennial celebration. She has quite the collection of original memorabilia from Price films too.

First up, from 1938, this original pressbook from TOWER OF LONDON

Ferlin Husky passes away/ Hillbillys in a Haunted House

Ferlin Husky was laid to rest in my hometown of Hendersonville, TN yesterday. It was an open ceremony, per Ferlin's wishes, so family, friends and fans alike could attend.


Ferlin is best known for his career as a country singer, where he had no.1 hits with the songs "Wings of a Dove" and "Gone" - but I prefer to remember him as the star of the movie Hillbillys in a Haunted House (1967).

Other films he appeared in include Swamp Girls (1971), and the Las Vegas Hillbillys (1966).
If you've never seen Hillbillys in a Haunted House you've really missed out on one of the great cornball country/horror crossover films of all time. In it Ferlin plays Woody, a country music singer who has car trouble and is forced to stay the night in a haunted house.

This one's got it all, Lon Chaney Jr., John Carradine, Basil Rathbone, Merle Haggard, the bodacious Joi Lansing, and the great George Barrows as a gorilla. Pickin, grinnin, ghosts and more!!

Recommended Movie of the Week - Rated Z

This week's Recommended Movie is rated "Z" - for Zorro. It's the 1940 film, THE MARK OF ZORRO. Directed by Rouben Mamoulian and starring Tyrone Power, Linda Darnell, and the always impressive Basil Rathbone, this is one of my top ten favorite films of all time. I first saw this one on a matinee movie one Saturday afternoon at home, and it has always stuck with me. I bought it on dvd as soon as it was released. This movie has THE BEST sword fight scene ever filmed. Definitely a great movie, in my book, and my favorite Zorro movie.
